About the Item
An elegant neoclassical center table attributed to celebrated Swedish designer Axel Einar Hjorth, crafted in Sweden during the 1930s. This refined piece showcases Hjorth’s signature blend of classic form and modernist restraint, executed in a sophisticated mix of mahogany, walnut, and birch.
The circular top features a stunning radial sunburst veneer pattern in walnut, framed by a birch banding and mahogany edge. Four fluted column legs with carved decorative capitals and stylized feet provide architectural support, while a shaped stretcher base adds structural and visual balance.
This table embodies the transitional style between the Swedish Grace movement and early functionalism, with its clean symmetry, luxurious materials, and subtle ornamentation—making it a standout piece for both classic and contemporary interiors.
