About the Item
A stunning example of French modernist design, this coffee table designed by François Monnet for Kappa embodies the sleek, sculptural aesthetic of the 1970s. The base, crafted from polished stainless steel, features two elegantly curved, ribbon-like supports that create a dynamic interplay of light and reflection. The floating glass top enhances the table’s minimalist elegance, making it a statement piece for Mid-Century Modern, contemporary, and dynamic eclectic interiors.
Monnet's design philosophy focused on the combination of functionality and artistic expression, believing that furniture should practically serve its purpose while also displaying aesthetically pleasing and ingenious design.
Born in 1946, he began his lifelong work as an independent designer in the 1960s, and in addition to Kappa, he created designs for many prestigious makers, including Hermès, Alessi, Ligne Roset, Bally, BMW, Swatch and Vitra, Laufen, Mobel, and Création Baumann.
In 1989, he established his own design agency, Monnet Design, which specialized in product, furniture and interior space design. He has also won numerous awards for his designs, including the Red Dot Design Award, the Good Design Award, and the Wallpaper Design Award.
