Collection "Biomas" The Brazilian Pampa is the second smallest Brazilian biome, covering 2.3% of its area. The region is dominated by grasslands, being the northern part of a vast bioregion known as the Río de la Plata grasslands. It also includes other natural ecosystems, such as forest and woodland, savanna-like parklands, palm groves, rock outcrops, dunes, different types of wetlands, and water bodies. There is a deficit in protection of the Pampa when compared to other biomes, partly because of the lack of awareness of the rich biodiversity of grasslands. Data from the project MapBiomas in 2021 have shown that the Brazilian grasslands are the biome with the largest percentual increase in deforestation. The coffee table set “Pampa" alludes to the grim statistics, without renouncing to high-quality production and finishing. The main table captures the geography and the flora of this biome, lying on top of a base of charred wood, produced according to an ancient Japanese technique (Shou Suji Ban). The technique adds durability and protection to the wood, and alludes to the spectre of destruction faced by the biome. The table top is made out of natural rock, and is produced using high precision machinery to highlight the grandness and the beauty of the biome. The side table, entirely in wood, depicts its geographical coordinates. In addition to symbolizing the threats to the biome, the process ensures that each piece is unique. The raw material comes from trusted suppliers, and the production is focused on reuse and durability.
