A Rare French Mid-Century Modern Prototype Lucite Cocktail / Coffee or End Table in the Style of Maria Pergay. The table forms an intriguing design statement with its innovative minimalist and "de-constructivist" architecture and totally transparent aesthetic , preceding the de-constructivist movement by almost 2 decades. The piece appears as a partially hollow form with open columnar legs and open shafts that are held together by steel pins. The hollow lucite legs are closed on the 3 out-sides and open on the interior side and the piece has columnar open shafts that parallel the legs from the top view. In sum, It is a work of intriguing engineering and aesthetic delight. Dimensions: H 19" x 31.5 x 26". An elegant and pure Modernist Statement, a rare French Mid-Century Modern double tier coffee table in black enameled steel and glass with brass details by Pierre Guariche, circa 1950-1960. This original double tiered cocktail table features refined architectural details with a larger top level raised on steel piers and cantilevered over its black steel frame and the lower glass level. Both glass tops are pierced and provide subtle design elements with the top held in place by 4 brass flat round finials and the bottom with 2 brass finials.
