The Snake Table by Alexander Girard. Herman Miller 1967
This unique and well published table brings together one of Mr Girard's most beloved motifs, the snake, with his legendary 1967 furniture collection for Herman Miller. In many ways this is the ultimate Girard object. Aside from this table Mr Girard created a "snake clock" with the same image for his own Santa Fe residence and also used the snake motif as part of the literature supporting his 1968 Hemisfair exhibition "The Magic of a People" in San Antonio TX. Finally this image was used as one of Girard's 40 environmental enrichment panels of 1972.
This table is from the collection of a staff member who worked directly with Girard and the studio.
