The olive tree is one of the oldest known trees in the groves of the Mediterranean Sea. These trees have woven themselves into the lives of humans since the beginning of time. Taking into consideration the centuries old traditions the Zeytin collection extends itself as reminder of peace. The olive wood is prized for its imperfections. It is a dense wood that has an overpowering tendency to be knarly and twisted within. 'Zeytin', Turkish for Olive Tree, provides timbers that evokes a sense of history unparalleled to any other wood used in furniture making. The oldest known Olive Trees have been recorded at 2,000 to 3,000 years old, most of which are located in Crete, Greece. When the lumber from the olive trees are dried meticulously, they are problem free and ready for use in our woodwork shop. The tedious task of properly kilning olive wood will directly affect the quality of the end product. At CEW we only work with wood from olive trees that have been dried to perfection. This practice forms the backbone of our long-lasting woodworks. Our eye for defect-free olive woods is second to none, and that allows us to deliver quality that is in line with our individual client's needs.
