About
A rare example of an oval, anodized aluminium console with a laminated bakelite top by Warren McArthur from the mid-1930s.The laminated bakelite top is in excellent vintage condition.
In 1929, McArthur started a metal furniture business using his custom designs developing new ways of joining metal pieces together. Notched aluminium tubes with milled washers, standardized manufacturing, and the anodizing process that made the aluminium hard and impossible to tarnish were all developed by McArthur, allowing his aluminium furniture to have a lifetime guarantee. Some of the technological innovations in aluminium furniture production that Warren McArthur devised are still used today.
