About the Item

A spectacular Italian 18th century Louis XIV period giltwood and patinated wood Lombardi console. The freestanding console from Lombardi is raised by four most impressive tapered supports with fine topie shaped feet and superb foliate designs with striking masks holding draped garlands in their mouths. Each support is connected by a stunning stretcher with a magnificent array of luxuriant scrolled foliate movements centering a fabulous mask at the center with a large palmette and remarkable floral topie shaped finial. The apron displays pierced scrolled foliate garlands also centered by richly carved masks amidst charming blooming flowers. The top displays a unique and most decorative patinated top framed within a beautiful mottled border of lovely scrolled raised fillets. All original gilt and patina throughout.
