19th Century Walnut Davenport or Ship Captain's Desk

About the Item

A walnut davenport or ship captain's desk with marquetry inlay; lift-up compartment with fitted interior, small gallery. Handsome old worn tooled leather top. Bank of side drawers to right side and "faux" drawers to the other. The hinged door opens to reveal faux drawers, one center drawer flanked by pigeon holes. The desk surmounted above a fixed panel with inlaid trim and resting on trestle feet with casters. Lacks a Key. Dimensions: 21 1/8" W, 20" D, 34 1/2" H Condition: Signs of age are evident including losses and tears to the leather, nicks and scratches, charming old child's writing inside drawer and a good candidate for restoration.
