About the Item

A rare freestanding Mahogany writing desk. Model 2084. Box-like top that folds out to reveal writing plate covered with original black leather. Under part of this storage compartment , also with “secret” room. Carved handles and brass fittings. Designed 1952. Made by Cabinetmaker Willy Beck 1950-60. Metal label from maker. The Desk is a display of the finest level of craftsmanship from cabinetmaker Willy beck in this golden age of Danish furniture. It is also a fine example of the restrained minimal modern form typical for the two designers. Functionally it is a very flexible piece that can function both as console as well as workstation. The size that makes it easy to fit into many interiors
