French 18th Century Louis XV Period Kingwood And Tulipwood Desk

About the Item

A sensational and elegant French 18th century Louis XV period kingwood and tulipwood inlaid desk, with all of its original ormolu and hardware. The desk is raised by slender cabriole legs ending with ormolu sabots. Above is the scalloped apron decorated by an impressive fish scale parquetry throughout. The front apron is a pull-out with a green fitted leather top. Drawers at both ends are decorated by an ormolu keyhole escutcheon. The top is fitted with a tooled green leather bordered by kingwood inlay and a three-sided elevated rim. D: 19.5" with pull-out closed D: 28" with pull-out open.
