Vintage Neoclassical Writing Desk Inlaid With Brass, 1950s An exquisite neoclassical-style writing desk crafted in the early 1950s exemplifies timeless elegance and refined craftsmanship. The piece features a rectangular top supported by four tall, fluted legs with turned feet, all enhanced by meticulous brass inlays. The desk’s front offers two spacious drawers adorned with original escutcheons and fine brass stringing. Its clean lines and harmonious proportions are balanced by decorative details, such as the brass-banded edges and panel inlays on all sides, allowing it to stand freely in a room as a centerpiece. Recently restored and finished with traditional French polish, the desk retains its historical charm. Some age-appropriate wear includes minor losses to the brass trim at three corners and a missing inlay in one leg groove, which subtly reflect the desk’s authenticity and character.
