Rare & Exclusive Antique Dutch Colonial Coromandel Wooden End or Side Table
About the Item
Rare and practical small table, made of beautiful and very expensive wood.
This very rare table could be the perfect finish to a small area that can do with a real style upgrade. Ever since we started selling antiques we have been looking for antique pieces of furniture made of special woodtypes and coromandel (especially when solid) is not only rare and beautiful to look at, it also is one of the most expensive woodtypes available. A cubic meter of this wood will set you back almost 100.000 USD. It is because there is not much of it, the small trees that give it, grow very slowly and in more recent years they logged too much of it. Therefor too finding this antique specimen really made our day. According to our restorer this is a Dutch Colonial table (as opposed to British Colonial). Great features are the lotus-like flower carvings on each side and the barley twisted legs and cross at the base (also for extra stabilty). From the lines in the wood underneath the table top (see images 12 and 13) one can see that this antique work of beauty was all hand-sawn. You will not be able to find another one anywhere in the world and, besides one restoration underneath one of the corners, this rare and very handsome antique table is in very good, original condition. This table stands as strong and stable as the day it was made, it has a beautiful patina, the grain in this solid wood and the fine carvings are an absolute joy to behold. This small statement piece certainly is ready for a real antique lover to use and enjoy.
If you like this hand-crafted antique table as much as we do then you will love our price. Especially since perfect packing (in a custom made box) and worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 3 to 6 days are included.

Antique Dutch Arts & Crafts Copper & Wooden End Table / Stand Conrad Fehn Attr.
By Conrad Fehn
Located in Lisse, NL
Very rare, early 20th century craftsmanship end table.
Finding the most beautiful and rarest antiques in the best possible condition is what we dream of and we have been very fortunate to have had many dreams come true. When you look at this Arts & Crafts table then you can see that recently another one did. Conrad Fehn was born in Nuremberg, Germany, but moved to Haarlem, the Netherlands in 1914. In literature he is described, not as a metalworker, but as a 'metal-artist' and when you look at this table (and some of his other work) then you can see why (if you have a good eye). When he opened up his studio in Haarlem around 1917 his Arts and Crafts designs had a very distinctive style, one that very much alligned with the Amsterdam School. The reason why this table is so extremely rare, is because Conrad Fehn was not known for making furniture. His work predominantly involved smaller pieces, such as coasters, bowls, candle holders, some clocks and a few table lamps. Even though this is not a large piece of furniture, we have never before seen a table of his hand. This piece may not be signed or marked, but since we acquired this remarkable table in Haarlem, since it has Conrad Fehn's workmanship and style 'written all over it' and after we asked an expert whom's opinion we highly value, we are convinced this is the work of Conrad Fehn. The pure Arts and Crafts design, the size, the make and the patina of this table are to die for and for such a table to be in this condition simply amazed us. This burnished copper table of circa one hundred years even comes with a near mint table...
