French Provincial Cherry Farmhouse Extending Table with Cabriole Legs

French provincial cherry farmhouse extending table with cabriole legs and two pull out leaves; pegged, mortise and Tenon construction. This table has been modified so it is level whether or not one or both leaves is extended. To do this we had to replace the existing extending arms (which were not very robust in any case) and shape them so they compensate for the 3/4" height differential when one leaf only is pulled out. Originally the leaves had a folding extra leg to help support the leaf when it was extended. Once we replaced the extending arms that was no longer necessary and was removed. Now the table is very firm, the leaves do not deflect when extended, so it is ready to be used and enjoyed. At 35 1/2 inches wide this is a generous width for a country table and the 6 feet of length can be extended to 8'8" or 11' 3 1/2", mid-19th century.
