Primitive 19th Century European Country Pig Bench / Work Table

About the Item

A primitive handmade 19th century rustic European countryside pig bench - work table. Hand carved and painted green, with stunning extra thick natural live edge rough-hewn shaped wooden (likely solid Elm) slab top, rising on three carved octagonal through wedged dowel stick legs. Circa 1840s The substantial sized chunky single board plank top displays beautiful, warm, rich patina, with remnants of original green paint remaining, full of antique character and historic depth only aquired from over a century of industrial use. The simple long eight-sided splayed leg base retains the majority of the original green painted finish, organic heavily distressed finish, worn, faded nicely aged muted coloring. Unusual, highly desirable and rare large proportion example, strong and sturdy design, that's extremely decorative, functional and flexible. From farm house modern, romantic rustic industrial, country cottage or mountain lodge, to more refined Spanish Colonial, old world Tuscan Italian or French Provincial, this workbench can be used many different ways, including as console wall or hall table, sofa table, side accent table, wine tasting pub table, kitchen island chopping butcher block stand, or placed in the foyer as a stunning entry statement piece! Wonderful, nicely aged patina, beautiful coloring, superb grain detail, with a timeless style of comfortable warmth and elegant simplicity Dimenssions: (approx) 29.5" H, 33.5" W, 26" D.
