About the Item

This is a large low table made from old Japanese wood. The tabletop is a very large, heavy board. Over the years, the surface has changed to a natural, primitive look. Its use is unknown, but it is assumed to have been a work board for cutting cloth at the time, and it has a strong presence. The exact species of wood used for the tabletop is unknown, but it is thought to be a type of hardwood, probably katsura wood. Various colors have been mixed over time, expressing the beauty of natural changes. The base is made of hard wood that is thought to be a type of hardwood used for beams in houses, with old Japanese washi paper pasted on it. Washi paper is a durable paper that was used in sericulture, called cocoon bags. It can be used as a sofa table or exhibition stand. The simple shape and naturally changed primitive look add a three-dimensional effect to the space, creating a calm and beautiful silhouette. *Depending on the installation position of the tabletop and base, some wobbling may occur. When installing, adjust the position of the tabletop and base or insert a piece of wood to adjust the wobble.
