About the Item
This is an old Japanese wooden low table.
I think it dates back to the Showa period.
The materials are lauan and cedar.
This is a very special table, with a tabletop made from a combination of two different woods.
The tabletopThe two ends of the tabletop are made of cedar, but this cedar is thought to be a transplanted part of a wooden boat board, or a part used in a tool that was constantly exposed to water.
That is why it has withered like this.
The central board is made of lauan, a material that was frequently used in the Showa period. It is often used for furniture, etc., because it has no quirks and is easy to process.
In addition, there are ribbon-shaped objects embedded in the borders between the tabletops in places, which are joints embedded to prevent the tabletop from opening and to enhance the design.
The legs are made of a combination of cedar and lauan, just like the tabletop.
The design is very sophisticated, and if it were made of only dried cedar wood, the surface of the table top would be uneven, but by fitting lauan wood in the center, its practicality is increased.
And because it is old, there is some rattling due to slight twisting of the wood, but it is not noticeable, so please rest assured.
This wonderful table, which incorporates a wabi-sabi atmosphere, can blend in with modern spaces as well as inorganic spaces.
It is a custom-made table from that time, and no two are the same.
Recommended.

[We offer Japanese antique furniture and tools that are different from the Japanese antique furniture and art that have been appreciated abroad.
These tools were used in private homes and farmhouses in the past.
They have been passed through a long time and have an attractive taste.
The reality is that many of these items are now being discarded along with the demolition of houses.
We are on a mission to re-evaluate these fascinating old objects and preserve them for future generations.
And we have seen tens of thousands of items so far.
We have used that experience to list the most fascinating items here.
We can do this because of our long experience.
We will rediscover the "beauty" produced in the life and culture of the common people, which is different from the Japanese art and culture that is known and scattered around the world, and present it to the world. ]
