About the Item
An exceptional and rare table created by Nicole Raude.
Stoneware tile top in various shades of grey, enhanced with a delicately geometric intaglio decoration and set in lead.
Black lacquered iron base.
Nicole Raude whose work is rare ont the market, have a passion for stoneware and simple forms.
In an era marked by the effervescence of shapes and colours, she excels at highlighting the material with muted tones or grays with subtle, often slightly incised decorations.
In many ways her artwork will prefigure the return to matter which will mark the french 1970's and is regularly exhibited alongside that of her husband Guy Raude, sculptor, at the Paris Crafts Fair.
A very similar piece is shown in the famous French magazine "Meubles et Décors" June-July 1961
This table is presented in its original condition, with a slightly patinated base and some irregularities in the joint due to the nature of the material.
