About the Item

Radical Swedish Table by Anders 'Lagombra' ("moderately good") Jakobsen, Institutet för Radikalslöjd i Hede, 2012 This table was created by one of my absolute favorite contemporary designers in Sweden - Anders 'Lagombra' (moderately good) Jakobsen, Radikalslöjd. It was originally made as part of a commercial campaign for Hemnet and was displayed across various locations in Stockholm. Radikalslöjd is represented in Sweden’s National Gallery of Design, and his work often explores the intersection between tradition and contemporary. This particular piece reflects a powerful narrative – a dialogue between the past and the present. It speaks to a background many can relate to: old, overpainted family furniture, contrasted with the aspirational dream of owning a Bruno Mathsson "Elips" table. Its title, "Funktionalistisk-sjutital-borgerskap" (Functionalist-seventies-bourgeoisie), captures this duality beautifully. At Skare Studio, we deeply admire his perspective and bold attitude toward arts and crafts. His radical approach is both forward-thinking and rooted in tradition. For many years, this table served as our own beloved kitchen table. Height: 74 cm/29.1 inch Depth: 89 cm/35 inch Width: 132 cm/51.9 inch
