Abstract Painting "Desde Una Montaña" / "From a Mountain" by Artist William Stone
William Stone was born in Caracas Venezuela in 1951. He has contributed to numerous exhibitions in Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Cuba, Spain and the United States. Some of his work is displayed permanently at galleries in Venezuela & Brazil. Stone's primary obsession is the selvatic quality of the Venezuelan landscape. However he is not solely concerned with representing the rainforests and jungles of his native land. His brush strokes suddenly appear to escape from their primary figurative function and establish marks whih create points of reference on the canvas, almost taking on the fucntion of punctuation. However they incite instead of indicating. The insinuate instead of narrating. The present painting is a wonderful mix of pink, white, black, dark blue and even hints of olive green bringing a unique touch of colour to any space. A wonderful example of contemporary Latin American art.

A framed Riga Gound from Nigeria. Elite Nigerian men wore grand, flowing garments known by various names: riga (Hausa), agbádá (Yorùbá), boubou (French), and mbubb (Wolof). This particular strip-woven riga features a off-white, very light grey tone with silk accents adding contrast. Skilled embroiderers—often trained in Arabic calligraphy—incorporated motifs once imbued with protective Islamic symbolism. Central to the textile is a leaf (gambiya) motif, linked to the Nupe people. A spiral design symbolizes the wearer’s spiritual journey toward God.
