Abstract Painting by Mexican Artist Leonardo Nierman

About the Item

Oil on board abstract painting by Leonardo Nierman (1932-2023). The painting is titled on the back City Abstracture (Compostion #28). There are remnants of an exhibition label. The sight dimensions of the painting are 23.5 inches by 15.5 inches. The painting is in good condition, there is some paint losses and staining to the original frame. Leonardo Nierman was born in Mexico city to Lithuanian and Ukrainian parents. He studied violin for 20 years from a young age but gave it up when he decided he was not good enough. He received a BA in business administration from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He did not follow this career as he had begun to paint while in school. He turned his attention to becoming a full time artist. He has received over sixty recognitions, half of them from outside Mexico. The artist’s works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City, the Museum of fine Arts in Boston, the Detroit Institute of the Arts, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art, among others.
