Male Nude mixed media collage by Richard Giglio
For avante-garde, impressionist, and mixed-media enthusiasts alike; Richard Giglio's work encompasses collages, masks, totems, letters, and other pieces and influences. He attributed this personal style to a combination of the places he lived, including New York City for its graffiti, Key West for the beautiful color palette and natural light, and Brazil for its sensuality. Giglio noted that much of his inspiration and influence stemmed from his love of Henri Matisse, Billie Holiday, and Maria Callas.
From the exposed newspaper backing to the hastily taped male collage there is a particular rawness in this piece that is a common motif across all of Giglio's pieces. The burst of colors that stand in contrast to the greys and whites of the clippings are also another element of this piece that are very true to Giglio's personal style and influences.
