About the Item
Beautiful set of 2 colour lithographs, depicting hunting dogs hunting their prey, framed in a root wood frame with glass, by Boris Riab (Riabouchinsky 1898-1975), signed in pencil, second half of the 20th century. Copyright Ch Ducher et Cie Paris, numbered 736 &737.
Born as Boris Riabouchinsky into a wealthy family in Moscow, he became acquainted with nature and hunting on his family estate. He was one of France's most gifted painters of hunting dogs, waterfowl and game birds. He learned to speak French, English, German and Italian and showed artistic talent, which he used to make sketches of his hunting parties. Riab enrolled at the Moscow Academy of Fine Arts and studied with Visotsky and Stepanov.
These works of his are in excellent vintage condition, with light signs of age and use appropriate to their age, slight damage to 1 of the frames, but nothing disturbing, check the photos for more details!
