An Italian pierce-carved wood wall plaque in Sphinx motif from the early 19th century. This antique wall decoration from Italy has a beautiful pierce-carved pine wood body featuring a pair of outward-facing sphinx, flanking a wreath and shell embellished lyre at center, and adorn with various foliage, scrolls, and horns, together creating a visually stunning and harmonious wall ornament. This early 19th century Italian carved plaque is just shy of 6 feet in width and 3 feet in height, and will make a fabulous focal point on a bedroom, living, or dining room wall or creating a bit of opulence and mythical intrigue.
