About the Item

Museum sand etched glass wall plate by Jean Picart Le Doux, France, 1950s . Polychrome decoration of fishes, starfishes, Neptune's trident and net deeply etched from stencil on a thick plate of black glass. The etched parts are delicately enamelled with vibrant colors. This piece was the subject of a special order from a Parisian brasserie. It is a variant of the well-known tapestry stencil named "Trawl". Unique piece. Height : 76.8"(195cm), Width : 45.7"(116cm), Depth : 0.3"(0.8cm). Weight : about 42 kgs. Signed "Jean Picart Le Doux" lower right. Each corner of the plaque is beveled for fixing on the wall by circular screw buttons. Slight surface scratches due to successive cleanings. Very slight.
