About the Item

The mid-19th century witnessed a resurgence of interest in classical art and the veneration of its masters. Among these luminaries, Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (1475 –1564), commonly known simply as Michelangelo, Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet of the era's Renaissance. A bas-relief, created during this period, serves as a testament to the enduring admiration for the maestro's unparalleled contributions to art, sculpture, and architecture. Size app.: 62.5 cm (roughly 24.6 in) high, 58.5 cm (roughly 23 in) wide, 6 cm (roughly 2.4 in) deep. Very good condition, age n usage wear. Please study good resolution images for cosmetic condition. Michelangelo, born in the Republic of Florence, his work was inspired by models from classical antiquity and had a lasting influence on Western art. Michelangelo's creative abilities and mastery in a range of artistic arenas define him as an archetypal Renaissance man, along with his rival and elder contemporary, Leonardo da Vinci. Given the sheer volume of surviving correspondence, sketches, and reminiscences, Michelangelo is one of the best-documented artists of the 16th century. He was lauded by contemporary biographers as the most accomplished artist of his era.
