About the Item

An impressive and high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period Rouge Griotte marble and ormolu decorative wall plaques. Each wall decor is centered by a finely detailed ormolu plaque within a thick Rouge Griotte marble frame with a fine mottled border. One plaque depicts a richly chased scene of Diana the Huntress surrounded by beautiful maidens eating grapes in a beautiful scene of a clearing in the forest. The other plaque depicts a jovial scene of charming cherubs playing and flying in the clouds.
