Set of Large Grand Tour Venetian Capriccio Ruins and Canal Scenes after Guardi

About the Item

In the manner of Francesco Lazzaro Guardi (October 5, 1712 – January 1, 1793) . Francesco Lazzaro Guardi was a Venetian painter of veduta, a member of the Venetian School. He is considered to be among the last practitioners, along with his brothers, of the classic Venetian school of painting. Photos are a mixture of outdoor lighting and interior lighting . The scene is probably Punta Della Dogana next to Della Salute on The Grand Canal. Guardi's painterly style is known as pittura di tocco (of touch) for its small dotting and spirited brush-strokes. He differs from the more linear and architecturally accurate style of Canaletto's painting This style, a century later, would make Guardi's works highly prized by the French Impressionists. These particular works probably Italian, early 1900s and in later mid century frames (these may have been set in paneling originally, cut and canvas later mounted on board and framed). The set stamped ‘ Italy ‘ on back side .
