An action-packed Japanese B2 poster for the 1969 British crime caper "The Italian Job," starring Michael Caine as cockney criminal Charlie Croker, fresh out of prison and planning a heist in Italy. Consistently voted one of the greatest ever British movies, the quintessential sixties film has become a cult favourite and a Classic of the heist genre, while Caine's famous one-liner "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" has taken on a life of its own. Despite receiving a Golden Globe nomination for Best English-Language Foreign Film, "The Italian Job" was not a success in America at the time of its release. Caine blamed its failure on a misleading marketing Campaign, explaining to Empire magazine that the US poster "was a naked woman and me. And I said, 'This is for kids. There aren't any naked women in it! We're going to get a load of old guys coming in to see naked women and they're going to be pissed off, and mums aren't going to bring their children.' They said, 'We're not going to change the poster,' so I got on a plane and came home." While utilizing the same elements as the US poster in a more diminutive form, this superb Japanese poster places its focus on the real stars of the movie - the red, white and blue mini coopers...

Vintage Kid Creole and the Coconuts 1985 concert poster: This rare Kid Creole and the Coconuts announcement/poster was published on the occasion of his December 26th, 1985 show at Carnegie Hall. This was the band's debut performance at Carnegie Hall, and it was written about in the New York Times: "THE POP LIFE; CARNEGIE HALL DEBUT FOR KID CREOLE" (December 25th, 1985). Medium: Offset printed concert poster. Dimensions: 11 x 17 inches. Good overall vintage condition. Unsigned from an edition of unknown. American latin pop band founded by August Darnell aka Thomas Browder in 1980 in New York City. Fronted by Kid Creole (2) backed by the trio of The Coconuts and also featuring Coati Mundi, they enjoyed most of their success in the eighties. Their debut album was critically well-received but not successful commercially. Their second album was a concept album matched with a New York Public Theater stage production; it received positive reviews, with Darnell recognized as a clever lyricist and astute composer, arranger and producer. Their international breakthrough came with their third album, 1982's Tropical Gangsters, which hit #3 in the UK and spun off three Top 10 hits with Stool Pigeon, Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy and I'm A Wonderful Thing, Baby ; Dear Addy also made the Top 40. In the US the album was retitled Wise Guy and reached #145, and I'm a Wonderful Thing, Baby flirted with the R&B charts. Girls! Girls!' stands out as one of Elvis Presley's more popular films, even receiving a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture - Musical. Elvis' eleventh feature film and his second shot in Hawaii, 'Girls! Girls! Girls!' was a safe money-spinner for both his record label RCA and the film's distributor Paramount, who saw Elvis voted as 1962's 'Top Box Office Draw' for having three of the top grossing films of that year. The highlight of the film is Presley's performance of his enduring pop classic 'Return to Sender,' which subsequently peaked at no.2 on the US Billboard chart when released as the lead single from the soundtrack album. A young Steve McQueen is pitched as the main event on this incredibly rare B2 poster for the first Japanese release of the cult drive-in era classic ‘The Blob’ in 1965, cashing in on the king of cool’s box office draw at the height of his popularity. A relative unknown only seven years prior, McQueen had not been pictured on anything but the theatrical lobby cards at the time of the original US release in 1958 and was credited as ‘Steven McQueen.’ Perfectly epitomising the schlock sci-fi B movie, ‘The Blob’ starred a 28-year old McQueen in his first leading role as a rebel teen who discovers the gelatinous alien invader wreaking havoc throughout his small Pennsylvania community and tries to warn the sceptical townspeople before it is too late.
