True Pair of French 19th Century Belle Époque Period Terra Cotta Wall Plaques

About the Item

A beautiful and wonderfully executed true pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period Terra Cotta decorative wall plaques signed N. Laval 1880. Each oval plaque displays exceptional attention to detail with the left plaque depicting a beautiful maiden dressed in classical period attire with a blooming flower at her lapel and wonderful large flowing foliate hat all set within a mottled border. The right plaque depicts a handsome young man also dressed in period attire with a flared collar also displaying a flower at his lapel and displaying similar impressive intricately detailed large foliate designs at his hat. All original patina throughout.
