Jonathan Barbieri Signed Framed Graphite Drawing Head Study Los Mezcaleros
About the Item
A quite oddly alluring and a bit disturbingly engaging original graphite on parchment drawing by American/Mexican artist Jonathan Barbieri titled "Head Study - Los Mezcaleros" The use of negative space forces the viewer to focus and confront the strangely bizarre expression of the female character staring directly back at you. It is a little beautifully unnerving.
The work is pencil signed and dated (1994) by the artist along the lower edge.
Barbieri was born in Washington D.C. in 1955. In the 1980s he emigrated to Mexico where he has lived and worked ever since - mostly in and around the magical town of Oaxaca. His paintings and drawings are in numerous public and private collections throughout Mexico, Europe and the United States.
This piece would be a great addition to any collectors of his work or make for an eye catching stand alone accent artwork piece in about any setting.
It is nicely framed and ready to display.
