About the Item

18th century French school, portrait of an aristocrat woman circa 1760 - 1770, oil on canvas set into a Louis XVI style frame (the frame is a 19th century production ; it is gilt with gold leaf). Our fine portrait is signed Mrs. Porcher ("Melle Porcher") and dated 1768. The woman obviously belongs to French high society ; she is wearing a wig, a lace headdress with a pink ribbon on top, a beautiful white dress finely embroidered with red flowers enhanced with laces. She has beautiful blue eyes, she is sophisticated, very elegant with harmonious and delicate facial features. Very well executed portrait in very good condition.
