A genuine 19th Century Portraiture on Glass made by Glasspainters of Hertford and signed by the artist. A rare medium used during this period by a specialised English Glasspainters. Depicting either the 6th Earl of Essex (1803-1892): Arthur Algernon Capell or the latter 7th Earl of Essex (1857-1916): George Devereux de Vere Capell Reverse Painting on Glass (Verre Églomisé)This technique involves painting an image on the back of a piece of glass, When viewed from the front, the image appears to be behind the glass.
