Refined oil painting painted by Otto Peters in the late 1800s,the author succeeds in an exemplary way in conveying to us the atmosphere of peace and serenity of this bucolic scene,the task of caring for the flocks is presented as a light-hearted,non-invasive task in the lives of the shepherds who spend their time in sweet indolence,often composing music.In this work the pastoral theme is mixed with that of 'romantic entanglement,the complacency and shyness of the female face for the shepherd's courtship is depicted by the author with great delicacy and mastery of painting technique.
Originally the painting was oval in shape as can be seen from the photo of the back of the canvas.Overall condition good
