Circa 1880s oil on canvas lake scene painting by George Lafayette Clough, American. Clough, 1824-1901, New York. From Auburn, NY, he painted the Adirondacks & that region until 1862 when a move to Cleveland led him to urban scenes. "Evening by the Lake" is no doubt from the 1880s when he returned to New York & more pastoral work; also indicated by style of the frame's label (removed from the original, damaged frame and attached to the new frame). Canvas: 11" x 23". Frame: 16.5" x 28.25".
