About the Artist, Henry Pontoy: Born in February 5th, 1888 in Reims, died in 1968. Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he travelled and visited the Maghreb, settled in Fez in 1927 as a teacher and painted in Morocco where he was very much appreciated. Over the course of his career, Pontoy has explored various styles and techniques, ranging from Impressionism to Expressionism and Abstraction. His work is characterized by a bold color palette, dynamic composition, and an exploration of form and light. Pontoy drew his inspiration from nature, cityscapes and scenes of everyday life. His paintings often captured fleeting moments and particular atmospheres, revealing his sensitivity to shades of light and shadow. The artist was also influenced by his travels throughout Europe where he received recognition for his work. His works have been shown in art galleries and museums, and some of them are part of private and public collections.
