About The Artist
M. Wilkie is a Gdańsk-based artist known for her versatile portfolio. Her style is nuanced by a wide
range of inspirations. Many artists draw her attention therefore one can find a great deal of
refrences to bygone eras in her paintings.
Artist Statement
When you look at Wilkie's paintings you immediately notice her great appreciation for old masters'
heritage. Having a vast respect to all artists, Wilkie most eagerly tends to lean towards an ancient
and renaissance art as a universal source of beauty and timelessness . Fascinated by fifteen and
sixteen century painting craftsmanship she pays great attention to details and builds the painting
with multiple layers of oil paints. In opposition to today's world of digital rush Wilkie's paintings offer
the viewer a much longed sence of serenity . The works summon a soothing visual experience.
Her work can be found in Gdańsk's Cathedral of Saint Olive. The artist has completed several murals
for Gdańsk City Hall as a part of a supporting entrepreneurship project. Wilkie has painted
extensively in restaurants, schools and kindergartens. She was commissioned many portraits from
people of culture and politics. Her work is held in private collections in Poland and abroad.
