About the Item

An English oil on canvas genre painting from the 19th century by Charles Hunt Jr (1829 -1900), titled "The Intruder". Created in the 19th century by the son of Charles Hunt Senior who taught him genre painting, this oil on canvas depicts a scene perfectly identified by its title: "The Intruder". A man, wearing a large black hat with blue feather, a satchel and holding a clarinet, is surprised by the presence of three dogs whose distrustful attitudes reveal that we are dealing with an intruder. Set inside an inner courtyard with a green door half opened, the scene is nicely balanced in its composition. Presenting an antique carved giltwood frame, this 19th century English Charles Hunt Jr. oil on canvas painting will enliven any wall beautifully!
