Fine Italian Landscape of Peasants at Rest, Oil on Board, Late 19th Century
About the Item
A wonderful Italian painting depicting peasants at rest under trees, with haystacks and farm buildings in the distance. Oil on board, late nineteenth century or early twentieth century, in a beautifully gilded Italian frame.
An incredibly expressive painting, combining naif elements, particularly in the figures, with an impressionist type landscape reminiscent of Van Gogh or Manet.
Signed indistinctly, lower left.
Some craquelure throughout, and a few small hairline scratches, please see photos. Frame in good condition with minor splitting at the corners.
