Framed Oil, Landscape by Ramón Calsina Baró (Barcelona, 1901 - 1992). Measures - 70 cm x 100 cm x 5.5 cm (Depth - Includes Canvas + Frame) Signed in the upper left-hand corner. Biography of the Artist Ramon Calsina was born on February 26, 1901, in Barcelona's industrious Poblenou district, a cradle of cultural, social, and industrial dynamism that shaped his early sensitivity and artistic proclivities. Declaring himself as naturally inclined to art as one might be to a physical trait, Calsina was drawing from an early age. By age 12, he was formally studying art, balancing his education with work at a stained glass workshop. His career was punctuated by significant achievements and challenges. After his military service, Calsina pursued art full-time, studying at Llotja and opening a studio. His work received recognition through exhibitions and awards, such as the Amigó Cuyàs Scholarship, which funded his productive stay in Paris. Despite gaining international attention, he chose to return to Barcelona, where he continued to exhibit and teach at the School of Fine Arts. Calsina's journey was marked by resilience amid adversity, including the Spanish Civil War and economic hardships. His personal life, too, was full of commitment; he married Rosa Garcés, with whom he had three children, and she supported him through difficult times. Later years saw Calsina receiving accolades for his work, which included stained glass and lithography. He remained active and enthusiastic about his art until his health declined, passing away on November 26, 1992. His legacy is that of a dedicated artist who remained true to his vision, unswayed by changing fashions or commercial pressures, leaving a profound impact on those who experienced his work.
