About the Item

The work depicts the famous episode in which Joseph, one of Jacob's twelve sons, is sold by his brothers to Putiphar, head of the guards of the king of Egypt. Diziani became famous by designing theater sets, which enabled him to be called to Munich of Bavaria and in the service of Augustus III of Saxony in Dresden. In Italy, he was active in several cities in the Veneto region and spent several stays in Bergamo, Trento and Rome, during which he was able to carry out an intense pictorial activity, ranging between different genres: from portraits to landscapes and from religious subjects to those inspired by classical culture.
