About the Item

Provenance: Consigned to the gallery by private collector. Description: Oil painting by Hanson Puthuff, created circa 1925. He is nationally famous for his lyric interpretations of the Southern California deserts neighboring vistas prior to urban development. Many of Puthuff’s paintings depict the environs near his home in La Crescenta, west of La Cañada Flintridge, commonly known simply as La Cañada. The location is in the Verdugos region of Los Angeles County in the Crescenta Valley on the western edge of Southern California's San Gabriel Valley.
