Italian 18th Century Louis XVI Period Gouache in Its Original Giltwood Frame
About the Item
A beautiful Italian 18th century Louis XVI period Gouache in its original giltwood frame. The wonderfully executed painting depicts a stunning Italian structure with grand stairs leading up to a most impressive triumphal arch. At each side of the stairs are beautiful maidens, one holding a snake, the other a trumpet. At the base and in the foreground is a fountain where Minerva is seated flanked by four maidens with crossed arms and an additional statue of a beautiful women draped in flowing period attire. A man is pushing a wheel barrow while other charming personages gather and speak. Wonderful subject matter and exceptional attention to detail.
