'THE BODY OF THE DEAD CHRIST IN THE TOMB' after Hans Holbein the Younger, showing Christ lying in the tomb. His head resting on a lace-edged pillow tied with a blue ribbon. His body draped with linen, lying beside him the Crown of Thorns and crucifixion nails. Possibly painted for an altarpiece.
An exceptionally dramatic life-size painting. In a later giltwood frame. Various minor aged-related losses to the paint surface.
