About the Item

"Reliquary for Memory" (Panel 1) Artist: Sid Smith Oil on canvas This large-scale (60" x 60") oil-painting features a water/landscape bathed in a beautiful late afternoon, fading light. A square format frames tree-lines converging on a lone central tree dramatically refelcted by a watery foreground. Impasto paint application complements the modern-impressionist style and gives the piece a bold substantiality worthy of its scale. About The Artist: Sid Smith’s intent in creating is to have poetic expression through the physicality of painting and sculpture. He very much enjoys the process itself and loses himself in their creation. Color is an integral part of his work, finding inspiration in memories of things he has seen, and mood. Each piece begins as blocks and marks of color with no concrete direction and he continues to rework and excavate them. He tries to bring his memories, emotions and desires into a physical state on the canvas. Ultimately his work comes from a love of creating and released so that he may keep evolving and honing his Craft.
