A splendid framed limited edition lawn tennis print taken from the original 19th century oil painting by Sir Robert Ponsonby Staples Bt. In this scene he portrays vividly the atmosphere and excitement of a game of tennis in its early days.
This print is limited to 750 copies.
The title is "LAWN TENNIS, The Lawn Tennis Club, Newcastle, Co. Down".

The original painting is dated £ 1912
Sir Robert Ponsonby Staples' work was first accepted by the Royal Academy in 1875, when he was 22 years old, and he was a regular exhibitor thereafter. The original oil painting was probably exhibited in London at the Alpine Club in 1923 as 'The Lawn Tennis Club, Newcastle, Co. Down'.
