About the Item
"The Lyric Poet", Acrylic painting on canvas, signed and dated 2009. Good condition with some light wear due to age and use.
Vladimir Viktorovich Piskarev (b. 1962) is a Russian dissident and member of the Artists' Union of Russia and Tatarstan Republic. His work has been actively exhibited since 1991, both in Russia and abroad (six personal exhibitions and over eighty joint exhibitions in collaboration with colleagues). The works of Vladimir Piskaryov are in the collections of museums in Russia, private collections in Europe, America and the Middle East. In 2014, Piskarev was awarded the Silver Medal of the Creative Union of Russian Artists for his contribution to Russian art. In 2020, he was arrested and imprisoned for his religious beliefs, and in 2023 was sentenced to 6 years in prison, where he currently remains.
