Painting published in many art books ... ...about Cesare Viazzi: Alexandria 1857 - Predosa (AL) 1943. He began his artistic training in Novi Ligure, at the studio of the painter Michele Cavanna, and at the Accademia Albertina in Turin. In 1872 he moved to Rome to attend the Academy of Fine Arts. He then moved to Genoa, where he attended courses at the Ligurian Academy and does most of his painting activity. In 1893 obtains the figure professorship at the Academy. Painter of bourgeois realism, landscapes, seascapes, portraits, mythological and allegorical scenes of great evocative power, leading figure in the artistic and cultural domain and member of the Artistic Family Genovese. It also creates great compositions destined to the most important Genoese villas: the Ray Castle, Villa Bisio, Villa Weil; for the castle of Radius mainly realizes the painting notes: "The Ride of Valchierie", run by the same residence also with tempera decorations on the wall, then prefer the oil painting on canvas, a technique that allows more brilliance in the colors, work studio and an easier posture. In addition the works before being placed can be presented to the public, as in the case of Villa Weil, whose four large paintings depicting "The Hunt of Diana, The sirens, At Spring, In the wood" are exhibited at the Promoter Society of Fine Arts Genoa in 1901, where they get great admiration from the public and press, which defines Viazzi "the most important Symbolist in Italy". Inizia la sua formazione artistica a Novi Ligure, presso lo studio del pittore Michele Cavanna, e all’Accademia Albertina a Torino. Nel 1872 si trasferisce a Roma per frequentare l’Accademia di Belle Arti. Si stabilisce poi a Genova dove segue i corsi presso l’Accademia Ligustica e svolge la maggior parte della propria attività pittorica. Nel 1893 ottiene la cattedra di figura presso la stessa Accademia. Pittore del realismo borghese, di paesaggi, marine, ritratti, scene mitologiche e allegoriche di grande forza evocativa, personaggio di primo piano in ambito artistico-culturale, e membro della Famiglia Artistica Genovese. Realizza anche grandi composizioni destinate alle più importanti ville genovesi: il Castello di Raggio, Villa Bisio, Villa Weil; per il castello di Raggio realizza principalmente la nota tela: “La Cavalcata delle Valchierie“, esegue per la stessa residenza anche decorazioni a tempera su muro, poi preferisce la pittura ad olio su tela, tecnica che gli consente maggior brillantezza nei colori, il lavoro in studio e una più agevole postura. Inoltre le opere prima di essere collocate possono essere presentate al pubblico, come nel caso di Villa Weil, le cui quattro grandi tele raffiguranti “La caccia di Diana, Le sirene, Alla Sorgente, Nel bosco” sono esposte alla Società Promotrice di Belle Arti di Genova nel 1901, dove ottengono grande ammirazione da pubblico e stampa, che definisce Viazzi “il simbolista più importante in Italia”. Nei primi anni del ‘900, nel pieno successo artistico, abbandona definitivamente l’insegnamento e la pittura, dedicandosi all’attività di collezionista, antiquario e critico d’arte. In particolare sarà la spalla culturale di Costantino Nigro, Presidente degli antiquati d’Italia. Una coppia vincente che associa grandi capacità commerciali a grandi conoscenze nel campo dell’arte.
