Louis Wolchonok American (1898-1973)
A rare example (Egg Tempera) of Louis Wolchonok fine arts techniques, focusing on american Realism. A subtly stunning portrait of a gray haired lady wearing a necklace in landscape, painted in egg tempera.
Signed lower right 'Louis Wolchonok' in script.
Presented in a later glass fronted giltwood frame.
Selected Biography:
Louis Wolchonok , American (1898-1973) was a social realist painter and member of the Woodstock Art Association. He exhibited his works at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the National Academy of Design and the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art.
an author of art books, etcher, painter of townscapes, landscapes, figures, muralist, and graphic artist.
He also studied at National Academy of Design, Cooper Union Art School, City College of New York, Julian Academy, Paris, and the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Art.
He taught drafting at City College of NY from 1930; and design, painting and etching at the Craft Students League, YWCA, NY, NY from 1932.

Louis Wolchonok
Louis Wolchonok was an author of art books, etcher, painter of townscapes, landscapes, figures, muralist and graphic artist. Wolchonok was a social realist artist who worked in watercolors, oils and prints. He studied at the National Academy of Design, The Cooper Union, the City College of New York, Académie Julian in Paris, and the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts. He taught drafting at the City College of New York from 1930; and design, painting and etching at the Craft Students League, YWCA, New York, from 1932. He authored The Art of Three Dimensional Design: How to Create Space Figures, Lessons in Pictorial Composition and Design for Artist and Craftsmen.
