American School, 19th century. Graphite, charcoal and some watercolor on paper, signed by an unidentified hand. Exceptional original hand carved frames. One image depicts a grouping of fish, fresh daily catch and the other a pair of ducks, fresh from the hunt. This exceptional pair of 19th-century trompe l'oeil pastel drawings exemplifies the artistry and illusionistic skill characteristic of this unique genre. Each drawing is meticulously crafted to deceive the eye, creating a convincing illusion of three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface.
